Joe Anderson, Mayor of Liverpool, has officially opened the new Home Bargains store on Hanover Street.
The new store has led to half a million pounds of investment from Home Bargains, creating 40 new jobs in the city centre. It is the 35th store on Merseyside.
Joe was joined by Joe Morris, operations director at Home Bargains, to officially cut the ribbon and welcome in the first shoppers to the new store.
Joe Anderson said: “This new store will serve the L1 community – the same place where I grew up.”
“Just walking around the store on Saturday morning I was already bumping into people I knew. They were stunned by the new store, and the sheer range of products it has on offer.”
“Home Bargains’ commitment to Liverpool and to Merseyside is undoubted. They’ve got 35 stores across the region, as well as a major distribution depot, supporting over 1,000 jobs.”
“Its continuing the renaissance of Hanover Street. You only have to walk from Liverpool Central down to Paradise Street to see how thriving this part of the city is. Home Bargains new store adds to that regeneration in a huge way.”
“I want to wish the new store, its staff and all of its customers the best of luck for the future.”
Joe Morris, from Home Bargains, said: “Home Bargains is a family-run business that remains close to its roots. We’re excited to be opening our latest store in Liverpool, the city where it all began.”
The 12,000 sq ft store will give Liverpool shoppers the chance to get their hands on even more of the latest bargains, including a great selection of homewares. Home Bargains also stocks a range of other top branded goods at fantastic value, including health and beauty, household, sweets and snacks, home style and drinks.
Joe added: “Hanover Streetwill be a great location for us, among some of the high street’s biggest names. We’re thrilled to be in a position to offer local people even more top branded goods at exceptionally low prices.”
