Labour's Cllr Frank Prendergast has been named as Liverpool's new Lord Mayor for the coming municipal year.
Frank took the Lord Mayor's seat on Tuesday night, 24 May, at the City Council AGM. Labour's Sharon Sullivan was also voted in as Deputy Lord Mayor and will serve as Lord Mayor next year.
Cllr Joe Anderson, Leader of Liverpool City Council, led the tributes to Frank and Sharon at the council meeting.
Joe said: "Frank Prendergast has dedicated himself to the people of Liverpool for many years, and I am sure he will do the city proud as its Lord Mayor."
"Frank chose children's charities for his Lord Mayor's charities, and I think that says everything about someone who wants the best future for all of Liverpool's citizens, no matter who they are or where they come from."
"Frank has already shown he isn't going to be a soft touch in the council chamber. I want to wish him the best of luck for the year to come. I know he'll do us all very proud as Lord Mayor, and with Sharon Sullivan following him next year, its a time when all of us are very proud."
